FAMILY SUPPORTS FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES (FSCD)

 The FSCD program works with eligible families to provide support and services based on each child and families need 

· Child must have or be in the process of receiving a medical diagnosis 

  • FSCD funds programs such a community aide, behaviour support programs, respite service, domestic support, work- related care and summer programs for children with special needs 

  • Application should accompany a diagnosis letter from a doctor. Family will be contacted by an intake worker. 

Once your intake request is processed, FSCD will then call to set up an intake appointed with a worker. Depending on waitlists, this process can take anywhere from 1-3months.

FAMILY DOCTOR

Chinook Primary Care network website will provide a list of local doctors, clinics for your specific needs.

ALBERTA CHILD HEALTH BENEFIT

Low income families can apply to this program to get eyeglasses, prescription drugs and dental care for their kids. 

To be eligible for the Alberta Child Health Benefit, you and members of your family must: 

  • Live in Alberta for a minimum of 3 months 

  • Be Canadian citizens or have permanent resident status in Canada 

  • Not be receiving benefits from other government programs 

  • Meet the income guidelines. 

ALBERTA ADULT HEALTH BENEFIT

The Alberta Health Benefit program covers health benefits for Albertans in low-income households who are pregnant or have high ongoing prescription drug needs.  This health plan includes children who are 18 or 19 years old if they are living at home and attending high school. This program provides coverage for: 

  • Dental care 

  • Prescription Drugs 

  • Eye exams and glasses 

  • Essential diabetic supplies 

  • Emergency ambulance services 

  • Essential over the counter medications
